A dangerous offender hearing is underway in a Calgary courtroom for the man convicted of torturing his former roommate.
Dustin Paxton was convicted of aggravated assault and sexual assault for his brutal acts against a man who was dumped, near death, at a Regina hospital in 2010.
If he is given a dangerous offender status, Paxton could be locked up indefinitely.
The hearing is expected to last four weeks.
