Ken Taylor will be laid to rest Tuesday in Toronto.

Taylor was the former Canadian ambassador to Iran during the hostage crisis in 1979.

He became internationally famous for his role in helping six Americans escape and his actions made him a hero in both Canada and the United States.

Taylor managed to secure the Canadian passports for the Americans and posing as a film crew they escaped Iran.

The plan was dubbed the Canadian Caper and his actions were the inspiration for the Oscar winning film Argo.

Taylor was born in Calgary and a graduate of Crescent Heights High School

After a 2 month battle with cancer, he died ten days ago in a New York hospital surrounded by his family.

Ken Taylor was 81 years old.
