Calgary police continue to investigate the suspicious death of a woman who was found inside a northeast home on Monday.

Police were called to a home on Castledale Way N.E. at about 3:45 p.m. for reports of a person in medical distress and discovered a woman in her 30s dead in the residence.

An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday and the victim has been identified as 31-year-old Amanda Antoni.

There is no word on a cause of death but the Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.

“There were signs of a violent incident inside the residence and coupled with the autopsy, which is ongoing with the Medical Examiner’s Office, we’ve deemed this death suspicious,” said Staff Sergeant Doug Andrus of the Homicide Unit.

Investigators say Antoni's husband found her body and that he is cooperating with police.

“He’s not a suspect at this time. He’s fully cooperated with the investigation and he has been interviewed by investigators,” said S/Sgt. Andrus.

Police say there was no reported domestic history between the couple and that they had not been called to the home in recent years.

“I think  we should be concerned any time we have a violent incident in our community. I think one thing to keep in mind, that it’s extremely rare that we do not have connection between the victim and the person responsible in a homicide investigation. I think that everybody should be aware of suspicious activity and report it to the Calgary Police Service,” said Andrus.

Officers are working to determine who may have had contact with Antoni prior to her death.

“We’re looking into her background, her connections with people at work and in her private life and anyone she’s corresponded with over social media or on electronic devices to see if there’s anybody who has information that may assist us with our investigation,” he said.
