The Calgary Highlanders and King’s Own Calgary Regiment will be on parade this weekend and the city is reminding motorists to keep an eye out for road closures to accommodate the processions.

The Calgary Highlanders will commemorate the Battle of St. Julien on Saturday, April 20 with a public parade from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Motorists should watch for police escorting the parade in the following areas:

  • Northbound 11 Street S.W. from Mewata Armoury to 5 Avenue S.W.
  • Eastbound 5 Avenue S.W. from 11 Street S.W. to 1 Street S.E.
  • Southbound 1 Street S.E. from 5 Avenue S.E. to 6 Avenue S.E. (604-1 Street S.E. Cathedral Church of the Redeemer)
  • Northbound 1 Street S.E.  to 5 Avenue S.E.
  • Eastbound 5 Avenue S.E. to Macleod Trail.
  • Macleod Trail southbound from 6 Avenue S.E. to 9 Avenue S.E.
  • Macleod Trail S.E. on westbound 8 Avenue S.E. to 11 Street S.W.

Macleod Trail from 6 Avenue to 9 Avenue S.E. will also be closed from 11 a.m to 2 p.m.

King’s Own Calgary Regiment will hold its St. George’s Day Parade on Sunday, April 21.

Drivers should keep an eye out for military personnel on southbound 11 Street S.W., between 8 Avenue and 15 Avenue S.W. from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
