Several community groups in the Crowsnest Pass are looking for a new home after receiving an eviction notice from the municipality.

The town council has voted to close the old wing of the Crowsnest Centre located in the centre of the Crowsnest Valley.

The centre is owned by the municipality and is a non-profit facility that offers support services for elderly and disabled members of the community.

In recent years council has debated whether to save or tear down the aging facility.

The Crowsnest Centre Society contends that the facility provides an important service and is looking at legal options to determine if the town can legally evict groups that have a valid lease.

Groups facing eviction include the food bank and an adult literacy program.
