RCMP members are asking drivers of large vehicles to travel with caution in southern Alberta as strong wind gusts have knocked a number of semis from the lanes of Highway 2.

According to Claresholm RCMP, there have been three reports of toppled semis along the section of highway north of the town. Motorist Lauren Kirkman says she has encountered least five overturned semis on the stretch of highway.

Drivers of big rigs, trucks and motorhomes are asked to exercise additional caution while travelling through strong winds.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the region with wind gusts of nearly 100 km/h expected. Winds are predicted to diminish by Friday night. For updated information on weather warnings in southern Alberta, visit Environment Canada.
