Police are warning the public about the release of a high risk offender in the Calgary area, so that they can take appropriate precautionary measures.

Kevin Ronald Brooks was released on Tuesday after serving a seven year prison sentence for manslaughter.

Brooks has a history of violent offences, and is known to be violent to strangers, people known to him, and peace officers.

His crimes have been committed in Edmonton, Drumheller, and Saint John, N.B.

He is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Approximately 160 pounds
  • 6’ tall
  • Brown hair
  • Brown eyes

He also has multiple tattoos, including one around his neck, and tear drops by the corner of his right eye.

Officials with the CPS say that after careful deliberation, it is in the public’s best interest to inform them of Brooks’ release.

Members of the public are reminded that this information is so they can be full prepared and not to take any vigilante action.
