Ian White, CTV News, Calgary

Born and raised in Calgary, Ian is honoured to deliver the news every weekday in his hometown.

A graduate of SAIT’s broadcast news program, Ian worked across Canada in Alberta, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick before joining CTV in Calgary.

Over the years, he’s interviewed hundreds of people who have had an impact on our community – from prime ministers, premiers and mayors, to musicians, authors, athletes, business leaders, medical experts and, most importantly, ordinary people.

He’s also provided live coverage of many provincial and federal elections.

Calgary-based Ian is very well acquainted with the city's neighbourhoods. He can tell you where every hockey arena in the city is and a corresponding coffee shop nearby.

Outside of work, Ian enjoys spending time with his wife, Kathleen, and children, Dylan, Bridget and Griffin.

Ian speaks English.

CTV News Calgary is southern Alberta's trusted source for local breaking news and weather and our legacy of news innovation and community involvement continues as we celebrate nearly 60 years in broadcasting.

On September 9, 1960, CTV News Calgary (CFCN) went on the air for the first time and was the first independent television station in Canada.

The first broadcast was a 30-minute news program, followed by two movies, bringing then owner H. Gordon Love’s life-long dream to reality.

CFCN became a member of the Canadian Television Network (CTV) in October 1961 and one of the station’s longest running shows, The Buck Shot Show, started in 1967.
