Mason DePatie

Video Journalist
Calgary
Mason DePatie Feb. 2024

Mason DePatie officially joined CTV Calgary in November 2023.

Born and raised in YYC, he’s very happy to be telling the stories of his hometown.

Before coming back to Calgary, Mason worked at Global News Edmonton, CTV Winnipeg and CTV Lethbridge.

Coming from a family of print journalists, he knows the importance of local news.

Mason’s first media job was a summer gig, working at Bell radio stations in Fort St. John. During his stint in Northern B.C., a reporter snuck him a news camera and told him to film something. He came back a day later with a complete story and surprised the news director with it. From then on, the station allowed Mason to do news stories in his spare time.

Now a full-fledged journalist, he takes on any story that comes his way, no matter how big or small.

When he's not working, you can catch Mason tinkering on his vintage jeep or working as a baker at his mom’s pie shop.

Mason speaks English and is trying to brush up on his French.
