All across the province, campers are packing up after a long weekend of fun and officials at McLean Creek are hoping that their patrons are extra diligent.

Year after year, junk and garbage left on sites has been a problem for McLean Creek, southwest of Bragg Creek.

It’s a popular area for dirt bikes and 4x4s whose drivers love to revel in the mud.

Park officer Rob DiPalo was out patrolling the area, watching to make sure everyone picked up their litter.

He says that it’s been a chronic problem at the park in previous years. “At the end of the weekend, sometimes we’ll have half a dozen vehicles, couches, broken down and wrecked vehicles and lawn chairs.”

He says that the situation has gotten better, but there is still room for improvement.

People who don’t pick up after themselves can be fined under provincial law.
