The fatality inquiry into the death of a Calgary mother resumed Tuesday with doctor who performed her tummy tuck testifying.

Ashish Toews, 33, died shortly after she had the operation at a private clinic in 2008.

She had trouble breathing and her oxygen levels were low, but the clinic is not licensed to keep patients overnight so she was sent home and released into the care of her husband, Jason.

Dr. Mark Haugrud told the inquiry the surgery went very well and there were no complications.

He even noted in Toews' file that there were no problems during the procedure.

The doctor said the anesthesiologist would have dealt with any post-op difficulties like low oxygen.

Haugrud says the death has led to some changes on the consent form and he talks more in-depth with his patients about the possibility of complications.

But he says nothing with the surgery itself would have prevented this from happening.

The inquiry resumes May 16th, with the anesthesiologist set to take the stand.
