Calgary police are investigating another poppy box theft, this time from a sub shop in the city’s southeast.

An employee at a Subway in the 4500 block of 25 Street SE says a man walked in asking to use the phone and when she turned away for a second, he ran out the door with the box.

The man is described as:

  • About  183 cm or 6 feet tall
  • Wearing jeans and a black hoodie

Police are checking surveillance footage from the store to see if that will lead them to the culprit.

A poppy scam is also making its way around the city and Calgarians are being asked to be on the look-out.

One or more people have been reportedly going door-to-door soliciting donations for Canadian veterans and they are not believed to be involved with any official veteran’s charities.

All of the incidents have been reported in the Panorma Hills area.
