A group of seniors are frustrated after they were given notice that they would have to find a new place to live by the fall because their lease is not being renewed.

The 29 seniors are currently living at the Carewest Colonel Belcher.

Alberta Health Services leases 30 rooms at the Belcher from a company called Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT.

The rooms were part of a three year deal that is up and not being renewed.

The seniors are worried because they don't have many options.

Dennis Lomore's dad Len just moved into the facility in May.

The Lomore's recently received a form letter informing them of the changes that will come into effect in September.

Dennis says it's frustrating hearing the news and hard on his dad who liked living at the facility.

"They gave them a list of about eight different facilities on the assumption that they will find placement in those, and I've called every single one of them, they have no spaces," said Dennis Lomore.

Alberta Health Services says it will try to make the move as easy as possible for its clients.

"What we're going to be doing is reassessing the care needs of everyone that needs to move, and then looking to where we can make the best match based on where they would like to live and what we have available," said Pam Brown from the AHS.

The AHS says there are upwards of 100 seniors on a waiting list and that 366 new beds will open in the city by the end of this year.
