RCMP have arrested one of two suspects in connection to the firing of a handgun and an attempted robbery at a campground near the town of Innisfail, but his alleged accomplice remains at large.

On the evening of June 5, two men in a pickup truck approached a campsite at Kelly’s campground, approximately 10 kilometres west of Innisfail, and demanded property from the camper. The suspects threatened the victim and a shot was fired into the ground.

RCMP were unsuccessful in their attempts to locate the suspects in the hours following the attempted robbery but the suspect vehicle, which was determined to have been stolen from a location near Pine Lake, was found.

On June 6, police arrested 33-year-old Michael Holt in the town of Bowden without incident.

Holt, a resident of Red Deer, faces charges of:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession of a firearm
  • Possession of cocaine
  • Failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking
  • Failure to comply with a probation order

Holt remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17.

RCMP have identified the second suspect as 20-year-old Dillon Bristow of Innisfail and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Bristow is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information pertaining to Bristow’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Innisfail RCMP detachment, 403-227-3342, or Crime Stoppers.

Bristow is expected to face charges of:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession of a firearm
  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Disguised with intent to commit offence
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Failure to comply with a probation order
