April Irving, the woman charged in one of the province’s largest cases of animal abuse, was back in court on Wednesday.

Irving was applying for the court’s permission to return to her home.

Earlier this year and in December 2014, the SPCA seized 141 dogs from the rural property near Milk River, with another 60 animals being surrendered to authorities by Irving herself.

She is charged in the death of five dogs, which authorities say all starved to death.

One of the conditions of Irving’s release however, is that she stays away from animals, but the problem is that her home is on a farm.

Irving has been living out of her car during the proceedings in order not to breach the court order.

She wants the court to lift that condition so she can return home.

The court has heard the appeal but has not yet made a decision.
