Cold temperatures return to Ottawa, with a high of -7 C today

Cold temperatures have returned to Ottawa, which is good news for people wanting to skate on the Rideau Canal Skateway.

It was -10 C at 6 a.m., with the wind chill making it feel like -18.

Environment Canada’s forecast calls for a mainly cloudy day on Wednesday, with a 30 per cent chance of flurries this morning. High -7 C.

Cloudy tonight. Low -14 C with the wind chill making it feel like -17.

Cloudy to start on Thursday with flurries beginning in the afternoon. High -5 C.

Friday will be cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries. High -5 C.

The outlook for Saturday calls for cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of flurries. High -1 C.

Sunday will see a mix of sun and cloud. High -12 C.

Environment Canada’s long-range forecast calls for lows of -22 C on Sunday and -23 C on Monday.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of -6 C and a low of -16 C.

Rideau Canal Skateway

A 7.4 km stretch of the Rideau Canal Skateway is open for skaters.

The National Capital Commission says the skateway is open between Laurier Avenue and Dow’s Lake/Carleton Library.
