Police and volunteers spent Mother's Day searching a large area north east of Calgary looking for clues to explain the disappearance of Ryan Lane.

City police used the HAWCS helicopter to assist in the search. On the ground, about 80 volunteers with Calgary and Cochrane Search and Rescue walked hundreds of acres hoping to find something that will shed some light on the 24-year-old's mysterious disappearance.

Lane was last seen in February.

The investigation is being headed by city police homicide detectives and they believe this area was his last known location.

"This investigation has been going on since early February but I know from homicide unit that they have a good reason for why they're searching out there," says Duty Inspector Keith Cain. "

Anyone with information about the disappearance of Lane is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
