Heavy snow started falling in the western parts of the city just before noon on Tuesday and weather experts say we could get as much as 15 cm in the mountain parks by the evening.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Airdrie, Cochrane, Olds, Sundre, Banff National Park, Crowsnest Pass, Pincher Creek, Waterton Lakes National Park, Kananaskis, and Canmore.

A low pressure system from B.C. is bringing in heavy flurries to the region.

Calgary could see about 5 cm of snow before the storm tapers off in the evening.

CTV Calgary Weather Specialist David Spence says temperatures on Tuesday will remain steady at about -14. Arctic high pressure will clear out the skies on Wednesday but it will remain cold at about -11.
