A large gathering of supporters met at a church in southwest Calgary to pray for Nathan O’Brien and his grandparents, who have been missing for over a week.
People gathered at St. Michael Catholic Community on Monday night to pray for their safe return.
The church, where Nathan was baptized in 2013, started a nine-day period of prayer as a way to show their support for the family.
Nathan’s parents and other members of the family also attended the gathering and joined in prayer.
Church members say the situation is hitting a chord with many in the church’s community. “It’s so close to us and so close to our hearts and it’s all part of caring and sharing and loving one another and we do this best through prayer,” said Marlies McKay, one of the members.
The priest who works at St. Michael has been involved in supporting the family. He has visited with them over the weekend to pray.
