With Tim Hortons Camp Day weeks away, the Tim Horton Children's Ranch in Kananaskis Country continues to welcome approximately 3,000 children each year.

On Thursday, 140 students from Edmonton’s Belvedere School participated in 30 different scheduled activities at the camp, an experience made possible by customer purchases at the restaurant chain,

Wednesday June 3 is Tim Hortons Camp Day with 100 per cent of coffee sales benefiting youth who would not normally have the opportunity to attend camp.

The Belvedere School students climbed a rock wall, received lessons in archery and paddled kayaks at the picturesque camp located near Highway 40.

“I'm just so amazed by the beauty,” said 12-year-old Lelaine Ryu. “We're not really here to learn, we're here to have fun. We're here to experience new levels, and creativity, and teamwork and leadership and earn our grade beads.”

Jeff Storck of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation says the camp experience has a positive impact on many facets of a child’s life.

“We know that when children go back home they do better in school, they make better friends, and more friends, and they help out around home more,” said Storck.

The Tim Horton Children's Foundation runs seven camps across the country. In 214, Tim Hortons Camp Day raised over $12 million.
