It’s day five of the Calgary Stampede and hundreds of seniors lined up bright and early for free admission into the park for Western Heritage Day.
On Tuesday, anyone over the age of 65 was admitted into the Stampede for free and they were given a couple of hours on their own before the gates opened to the general public.
The early risers were also treated to free coffee and donuts at the brand new Agrium Western Events Centre.
Free rides on the WestJet Skyride and standing room tickets to the rodeo are also part of the package and some say they wouldn’t miss it for the world.
“It gets in your blood over the years and it’s the thing to do. It’s tradition,” said one lady.
