Calgary police hope a Crime Stoppers reenactment will help turn up new information in connection to the shooting death of a 20-year-old man in the summer.

Police were called to the 5300 block of Rundlehorn Drive N.E. at about 3:45 a.m. on July 11, 2015 for reports of shots fired.

When they arrived they found two men in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

Steven Sharda, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene and the other man was transported to hospital in critical condition where he is recovering.

“Police believe that the victims were parked at the side of the road in a motor vehicle. They were approached by a full-sized, black, pickup truck. The pickup truck drove past the victims, made a U-turn, and then stopped nearby. One of the males in the pickup truck exited the vehicle, walked up to the victim’s vehicle and fired multiple shots. He then returned to the pickup truck and the truck fled southbound on 52 Street NE,” said S/Sgt Doug Andrus, CPS Homicide Unit.

Police say the injured man is cooperating with the investigation and they are hoping that several people who were believed to be involved in the incident will come forward.

Sharda’s brother Navdeep says the family is struggling to come to terms with the death.

“Losing a brother is hard to go through and it’s really impacted our family a lot,” said Navdeep. “I want a solution to this incident and I really want justice for Steven and I want to know which type of person would shoot my brother.”

Investigators say the shooting was a targeted attack and are looking into the possibility that the victims and suspects knew each other.

“There were four people inside the vehicle, the suspects are described as Lebanese males, 20 to 30 years of age, average height and build,” said Andrus. “We did obtain CCTV video from the area and we have looked through the video to see what we can glean in relation to this investigation.”
