Members of the Innisfail RCMP are requesting tips from the public after a 50-year-old inmate escaped from the minimum security annex at the Bowden Institution.

On Thursday, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the correctional facility following reports inmate Sylvain Martin had disappeared.

The 50-year-old is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • 167 cm (5’6”) tall
  • 63 kg (139 lbs)
  • Blue eyes
  • Tattoos on his right forearm and back

Martin is serving a sentence of 9 years, 11 months and 17 days in connection to:

  • Fraud
  • Obstruct Police/Peace Officer
  • Personation with Intent to Gain Advantage
  • Fail to comply with a Probation Order
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance
  • Utter Forged Document
  • Forgery
