Officials at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park some of the runs are now ready for skiers and snowboarders looking to take in some winter fun.

The facility says that thanks to cold temperatures this week, the snowmaking team was able to build up a good base and allow the opening of the Legacy Lift and the Silver Carpet this weekend.

“Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning was the best night of snowmaking yet,” said Mike Tanner, WinSport’s director of venues in a release. “Temperatures fell early in the evening and dropped to -9C at the bottom which made for ideal snowmaking conditions. We require at least -2C or colder to fire up the snow guns and we’ve been making snow at every opportunity.”

Regular hours begin this Saturday. The hills are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. over the weekend and 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. during the week.

More runs will be opened as the snowmaking process continues.

Guests should check the winsport.ca website for the latest updates on runs and conditions.
