1 man hospitalized in serious condition after Friday collision in northeast

A man is in hospital after being struck by a truck in northeast Calgary on Friday afternoon.

The truck, a 2023 Dodge Ram was heading south on Red Embers Gate N.E. around 3 p.m. before trying to make a right turn onto westbound 128 Ave. N.E. when it struck a man in his 60s crossing at a marked crosswalk.

Police said in a release that  the pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck wasn't injured and remained on scene.

Alcohol, drugs or excessive speed were not believed to be factors in the collision.
