Calgary police have arrested Kenneth Barry Wallage, the suspect charged with two counts of attempted murder, in connection to the December 28 shooting of a home in the village of Warner, Alberta.

CPS Duty Inspector Keith Cain says it was a tip from the public, received at approximately 1:00 p.m., which led to Wallage's arrest.

Wallage, 38, was apprehended in downtown Calgary on Saturday afternoon at a location near the Drop-In Centre.

CPS members tracked Wallage from an area near the Drop-In Centre to the intersection of Memorial Drive and Edmonton Trail N.E. where the attempted murder suspect was apprehended and placed in police custody.

“I’m not sure what brought him to Calgary but we certainly appreciate the assistance from the media and the public," said Duty Inspector Cain. "The arrest was made without incident.”

Wallage had been travelling on foot accompanied by an unidentified man. The second man was arrested but immediately released.

RCMP issued a Canada wide warrant for Wallage's arrest on Friday. The murder suspect was considered to be armed and dangerous.

“This person is wanted for attempted murder so we took precautions during the arrest and the strategy that we used to arrest him,” said Duty Inspector Cain.

Wallage will be transferred into the custody of Milk River RCMP.
