An early morning vehicle fire near the Stoney Nakoda First Nation has resulted in the discovery of the remains of one person.
At approximately 2:20 a.m., members of the Stoney Nakoda Fire Department were dispatched to a location along Highway 1A following reports of a vehicle on fire.
After successfully dousing the blaze, firefighters located the remains of one person inside the vehicle.
Members of the Cochrane RCMP detachment are investigating the discovery. The identity of the deceased has not been released.
The death is considered non-suspicious.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
