Body discovered near Bow River pathway in East Village

The Calgary Police Service homicide unit has launched an investigation after the remains of a man were located near the intersection of Riverfront Avenue and 4th Street Southeast early Thursday afternoon.

According to police, the body was discovered at approximately 12:30 p.m. on a pathway under the 5th Avenue flyover bridge. The death of the man, believed to be in his forties, is considered suspicious.

The identity of the deceased has not been released.

Anyone who may have witnessed any unusual activity along Riverfront Avenue on Thursday morning is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers.
