Guitarist and longtime Sting collaborator Dominic Miller bringing 'instrumental story' to Calgary
For more than 30 years, guitarist Dominic Miller has had a close musical relationship with Sting, collaborating with him on several albums and performing with him on tour.
"I call him my singer—the other guy—because everybody calls me his guitarist, so it's only fair," Miller told CTV News.
In early 2025, Miller will front his own band in a tour of Alberta and B.C., including a show Jan. 12 at the Bella Concert Hall in Calgary.
"I couldn't be more excited,' Miller said.
"I've been there many times, but I've never been to Canada and made a connection with an audience with my kind of story, whatever it may be, but it's an instrumental story of instrumental music, and I know in my heart that Canadians are really into that kind of thing."
Once Miller's tour wraps up, he'll join the Sting 3.0 tour in the U.S. and South America, playing hits from The Police, without the disagreements that dogged the band before they broke up in the 1980s.
"This isn't really a band. It's an artist with musicians who understand what to do. Whereas a band is, some people call it a failed democracy," Miller said.
