A 66-year-old man faces charges of uttering threats and wearing a disguise with intent after allegedly threatening a custodian at the Tuscany Club on Thursday evening during a federal election candidate forum.
According to police, Wayne Joseph Fillo entered the Tuscany Club in the city's northwest with his face concealed by a confederate flag. The building’s custodians approached the man and questioned his disguise. The suspect allegedly threatened the workers before leaving the building.
“I am told firsthand by police that he came in and said I need to make a strong point and somebody is going to get hurt’,” said Nirmala Naidoo, the Liberal candidate for Calgary Rocky Ridge. “Immediately the place was shut down by the Tuscany Club. They called police, they called 911, and the police came.”
Officers located the suspect inside a parked vehicle.
Fillo was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
