2015 wraps up on Thursday night and the City of Calgary has a big celebration planned at Olympic Plaza for residents to enjoy.
The outdoor party is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and about 10,000 people are expected to attend.
The event includes free skating, with skates provided for free on location. Skate sharpening will also be available, free of charge.
There will also be ice sculpting, bonfires to keep warm, and a DJ and laser and fireworks show starting at midnight.
However, if you're looking to wrap up your evening a bit earlier than that, the Municipal Building will be hosting a family-oriented celebration starting at 7 p.m.
There will be a glow-in-the-dark dance, a magician, and an inflatable obstacle course.
The event there wraps up with a child-friendly countdown at 9 p.m.
For getting around, the city says they are extending transit hours to 3 a.m. on New Year's Day.
However, unlike some cities which have no cost for transit on New Year's, including Edmonton, the service won't be free. Calgary Transit says regular prices apply.
"I think, in order for us to maintain budgets, this was what we had to do," said Teresa Byrne, Arts and Culture Superintendent.
The city will also be hosting a pool party on New Year's Eve from Village Square Leisure Centre.
Family admission is $25.
