Another record was broken at Calgary International Airport in 2015, with just under 16M people using the airport last year.
The figure is a 1.4 percent increase from 2014, the year which held the previous record.
Officials also say that cargo volumes at the airport also grew by 4.65 percent, with 135,695 tonnes transported through the year.
The authority says that December had a big increase year-over-year as well, with 1.3M using the airport in that month alone.
Garth Atkinson, President and CEO of the Calgary Airport Authority, says the numbers are encouraging in the challenging economy.
"We are confident in the role we will continue to play in providing economic stability during these challenging times and supporting the recovery and renewed growth here in Alberta," he said in a release. “We offer significant access to markets for businesses with cargo to move and connectivity to get business and leisure travellers to their desired destinations, and are well positioned to add new destinations to the YYC network in the future."
2015 was also a year of expansion for the airlines that use YYC, with WestJet introducing new service to many popular getaway destinations such as Fort Lauderdale, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
Air Canada announced new daily flights between Calgary, Halifax, and Nanaimo as well as converted winter-only service between Calgary and Phoenix to year-round service.
