Heavy rain earlier this week caused streets, basements and backyards to flood in Chestermere and officials say they are doing everything they can to prepare for more rain.
Over 300 homes in the community were affected by flooding after two storms passed over the area on Sunday and Tuesday.

- Another summer storm hampers cleanup efforts in Chestermere
Some people are struggling to get the upper hand on the cleanup and the city says it is working to lessen the impact on area residents if another storm comes in the next few days.
Crews are pumping out storm ponds and have added additional equipment to speed up the drainage rate from Westmere Pond, St. Gabe’s School Dry Pond and Kinniburgh Pond.
Officials say overnight pumping brought the levels in Westmere pond down by 15 cm overnight and they have dropped the lake level by about 10 cm to allow more room for storm water if it’s required.
The city is asking residents not to park on the street so that sweepers can get through to clear debris and to ensure garbage bins are not blocking storm gutters.
Crews are also keeping an eye on the storm water system to make sure it is draining properly.
Sandbags have been made available to anyone who needs them and can be picked up at the Public Works yard, east of the overpass.
Damaged property is piling up in some yards as people work to remove water-logged items from their homes and volunteers have been assembled to help collect debris.
Anyone who needs assistance on Thursday night or Friday can call SYNERGY at 403-207-7048 or leave a note on the debris to be picked up.
