A group of concerned citizens in Airdrie continued their search for Nathan O’Brien, Alvin Liknes, and Kathy Liknes, for a second night.
About 100 people arrived at the meeting place at Nose Creek Park on Wednesday night, less than half of the volunteers that showed up to search on Tuesday.
The search coordinators say they’ve been facing criticism on Facebook over concerns that potential evidence they find could be compromised.
They were also reports that RCMP were not in support of the civilian search.
“We want people to know that CPS and RCMP have not asked us to stop searching. If they have any issues with us, they know who to call. They know they can call us. We are still in contact with them and we are sharing anything that we find,” says Laura Cameron, volunteer search coordinator.
She says that the search group has a zero tolerance policy and anyone who strays from the search guidelines that police put out will be asked to leave.
Police are still requesting residents and business owners to check over their properties and report anything unusual.
The civilian search group plans to continue meeting daily in Airdrie to conduct searches.
