The Calgary Fire Department’s High Angle Team was called out on Monday morning to take care of some loose flashing that was dangling from the 41st floor of a high rise downtown.
Fire crews responded to a building in the 300 block of 7 Avenue S.W. just before 9:00 a.m. after someone on the 41st floor of the building noticed loose flashing hanging and called it in.
When crews arrived they found one piece of flashing had already come off and landed on a lower level.
“When fire crews arrived, they did find a piece of sheet-metal, probably a metre and a half by half a metre, that had already fallen off and landed on a platform below.” said Carol Henke, with the Calgary Fire Department.
They found three more loose pieces and were able to secure one piece and remove the other two.
“I think the wind had a part to play definitely,” said Henke.
Part of 7th Avenue was closed to allow crews to do the work safely and no injuries were reported.
