CTV News has learned Anthony Braile, the recently dismissed Calgary Police Service sergeant, was being investigated over his alleged involvement with a private detective agency unrelated to the incident that resulted in his dismissal.
Braile was the focus of an internal investigation into discreditable conduct, breach of confidence, corrupt practice, neglect of duty and insubordination.
The allegations stemmed from Braile’s suspected service with Walton and Walton, a Calgary-based detective firm operated by former police officer Steve Walton.
The investigation alleges Braile was employed by Walton and Walton between 2012 and 2014, during his suspension with pay, where he was assigned to follow a client’s former spouse. During Braile’s time with the firm, he allegedly used CPS resources for non-CPS matters.
