Calgary police shut down an intersection in the city’s northwest after a woman was killed in a crash.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Shaganappi Trail and Country Hills Boulevard N.W. at about 2:00 p.m. Monday.
Police say a Jeep Cherokee was going through the intersection on a green light when a Hyundai Tucson broadsided it.
The 79-year-old driver of the Tucson was transported to hospital where she died from her injuries.
The 19-year-old driver of the Cherokee was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police say alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash and charges are not anticipated.
