Neil Bantleman, the former Calgary teacher jailed in Indonesia on suspicion of sexual abuse, will stand trial for the charges laid against him.

An Indonesian court has rejected a bid by Bantleman’s legal team to have the case dismissed.

Bantleman’s family say they are devastated by the news, but his wife says this will give lawyers a chance to get the truth out into the open.

Bantleman and a teaching assistant at the school are both facing charges of sexual assault. They are being tried separately.

Prior to teaching in Indonesia, Bantleman worked at the Weber Academy in Calgary.
