Fire crews were called to a house fire in the city’s northwest on Monday afternoon that sent plumes of smoke and flames into the air.
A number of people called in the fire that broke out at about 5:00 p.m. at a home on Hidden Valley Drive N.W.
“When fire crews arrived, the officer immediately called for a second alarm just due to the volume of smoke and fire that was visible and it was already impinging on neighbouring homes,” said Carol Henke, Public Information Officer, Calgary Fire Department.
Four homes were affected by the blaze and a fire investigator has been called in to determine the cause.
“One we have not been able to enter yet because when there’s that much fire damage it compromises the structural integrity and then it’s not safe. We don’t want firefighters falling through the floor into the basement,” said Henke.
Fire crews were able to get the fire under control and officials say they are not aware of any injuries.
