Lake Louise ice climber takes a scary fall, then carries on climbing ice

The sport of ice climbing is becoming more and more popular, but one man is lucky to be alive after a serious fall in Alberta’s back country.

It happened at Lake Louise around 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, when a climber fell from atop the ice as his safety rope cauht him at the very last minute while hitting the snow pack below.

Damian Sanders and his family, who were visiting the area from Australia, captured video of the climber during a horse sleigh tour.

His family was shocked by what happened, but Sanders says the climber appeared unharmed and continued climbing again shortly after the incident.
