Following a nearly two month displacement, Sparky and Lobi, the Calgary Zoo’s hippopotami, have returned to their enclosure in the African Savannah building.

The Savannah building suffered significant damage in June’s historic flooding, requiring several weeks of cleaning and repairs.

On Wednesday, the zoo’s two hippos were reunited with the Savannah pool.

While the animals have returned to the building, the St. George’s Island portion of the zoo remains off limits to zoo visitors.

Guests currently have access to the Penguin Plunge, the Canadian Wilds, and Prehistoric Park attractions.  Officials expect the entire zoo to reopen later this fall.
