Students at a northwest high school created a sea of pink Wednesday morning at a rally designed to draw attention to the issue of bullying.
“A few years ago we saw a note at our school that was a cry for help and luckily that individual got help but a group of my friends and I realized that bullying does exist at our school,” says event organizer Seema Pandher. “We probably never thought it did, because we think it happens to other people, but bullying is present at Dief.”
“We wanted to find a way to spread awareness and celebrate those who take a stand against it.”
Pink Shirt Day was established in Nova Scotia in 2008 after several students noticed another boy being bullied for wearing a pink t-shirt.
The next day, they handed out pink t-shirts for all of the male students to wear.
