Derek Saretzky, the man accused of murdering a single father and his young daughter last year, appeared in a Lethbridge courtroom on Friday.
Saretzky appeared via CCTV from the Calgary Remand Centre to set a date for a preliminary hearing and to address the issue of bail.
Saretzky, who is facing first degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of 27-year-old Terry Blanchette and his two-year-old daughter Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette, has been in custody since his arrest last year and has been under the scrutiny of psychiatrists during that time.
He is also charged with committing and indignity to human remains.
In September 2015, shortly after his arrest, Saretzky attempted to take his own life and was hospitalized following the event.
He was, however, found fit to stand trial for the murders in December.
Saretzky was arrested in Crowsnest Pass after Blanchette's body was found inside his Blairmore home on September 14.
An Amber Alert was issued for Hailey, who was not inside the home when the police made the initial discovery.
Her body was found a day later at a rural property near the community.
The preliminary hearing was set for June 20 - 30 and Saretzky was remanded into custody.
