Calgary police are investigating an early morning shooting which sent a 25-year-old man to hospital.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to Motel Village, near the intersection of Crowchild Trail and 16 Ave. N.W., following reports of a man suffering from a gunshot.

A 25-year-old man with bullet wounds was located in a parking lot and transported to hospital by EMS in stable, non-life threatening condition.

According to police, the victim’s cooperation with the investigation has been limited and a relationship between the shooter and victim has not been determined.

“Our detectives will interview him and try to determine exactly the circumstances surrounding the incident,” said CPS Staff Sergeant Darren Bliss.

Police are uncertain where the shooting occurred as there have been no reports of gunfire in the area.

Staff Sergeant Bliss says an uncooperative victim increases the difficulty of an investigation.

“If there isn’t a third party independent witness to an incident like this, it’s all dependent on the witness’ co-operation,” said Staff Sgt. Bliss. “If they’re not willing to co-operate with police or provide them information, it certainly hampers our investigation.”

Anyone with information about Sunday morning’s shooting is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
