Saturday morning gunshots in the city’s northeast have claimed the life of one man.
According to EMS spokesperson Adam Loria, an EMS crew responded to the 300 block of Manora Dr. N.E. shortly before 10:00 a.m. following reports of a 'criminal event'. A male patient was located and transported by ambulance to Foothills Hospital in serious, critical condition.
Police confirm the shooting victim succumbed to his injuries in hospital late Saturday morning.
Officers cordoned off several scenes in Marlborough Park including a section of the 5700 block of Maidstone Cres. N.E. where two homes were struck by bullets after shots were fired at approximately 10:05 a.m..
The CPS Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the shooting death.
Neighbours on Manora Dr. say they mistook the sound of the gunshots for hammering.
The identity of the deceased has not been released. An autopsy is scheduled for early next week.
