A reward fund in a terrible animal cruelty case has reached over $75,000.
The group which started the crowd-sourced reward says it is overwhelmed by the public response.
Vets To Go Chief Medical Director, Dr. Wendy McClelland says “our original plan ….was to be able to post a $10,000 reward”.
The reward was posted in connection with two animal abuses cases. A Siberian Husky and a kitten were both found dead in Calgary about a week apart.
Among other things their muzzles had been taped shut.
The reward is now capped at $20,000, Dr. McClelland says "this is double our original goal, and to our knowledge is the highest reward ever offred in an animal abuse and cruelty case".
The vets who started the fund went back on-line to ask the public what should be done with the money, most people agreed that the reward could be capped at a specific amount and the rest of the money used to fund long-term efforts to have Canadian laws changed related to animal abuse/cruelty.
If the reward isn’t claimed within one year the money will be donated to the Calgary Humane Society.
