Kaella Doty

CTV News Lethbridge Video Journalist

A journalist since 2003, Lethbridge-based Kaella has been a reporter, producer and anchor in both news and sports. Over the years she has covered the trial of a Medicine Hat teenager convicted of killing her family, was on the ground when a C18 fighter jet crashed at the Alberta International Airshow and spent ten days stationed in Medicine Hat covering the 2011 floods. She was in Blairmore to tell the developing story of a toddler and father who were found murdered, interviewed the families of the victims of Lethbridge’s first triple murder and has travelled to cover WHL playoff hockey. Kaella thrives on breaking news and loves reaching out to victims, of crime, to help tell their stories.

Kaella’s professional journey brought her to CTV Lethbridge in 2005 to report and occasionally anchor the 5pm newscast. She’s also worked in Calgary as a fill-in reporter and anchor for the morning, noon and evening broadcasts. Over the years, she has interviewed thousands of people including astronaut Buzz Aldrin, singer Taylor Swift and Canada’s former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson.

Kaella loves giving back to the community she now calls home. She volunteers her time at a number of local events throughout the year and sits on the organizing committee for the Lethbridge Police’s Run for Special Olympics.

Kaella grew up in White Rock, B.C. and discovered her love of journalism after hosting a youth issues and interests show. She graduated with honours from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2003.

The mother of two is a marathoner, avid runner and fitness instructor.

Kaella speaks English.
