Stephanie Thomas
ContactStephanie Thomas is a video journalist whose career has taken her up and down and all over; and back again.
She completed her Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University in Toronto; a stark contrast to her childhood in a waterfront community on the Vancouver harbour. Sights set high, Stephanie landed an internship with NBC’s “Access Hollywood.” Yes, THAT show, and spent a semester in Los Angeles for red carpet events, film premieres and studio exclusives. Months later, she joined CTV as a field assistant during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics – a hometown dream come true.
Her first on-air role took her literally up in the air as the helicopter reporter for Global BC, but she was anxious to get back on the ground and closer to the action. After a stint writing for CTV Vancouver, she headed to Red Deer, covering central Alberta and the capital region for CTV. Stephanie made her way to CBC Calgary as a multimedia journalist reporting for the web, radio and television.
As broadcast news remained her favourite form of storytelling, she jumped at the chance to join CTV Calgary in 2017. Stephanie covers breaking news in Alberta; everything from politics to food, and anything in between.
Calgary-based Stephanie loves singing (classical choir to rock band) and getting to the mountains. Her dog is named Jura, after the wine region and the type of scotch. Stephanie speaks English.
