Construction of a new CTrain station in northwest Calgary is nearly complete and is set to help thousands of Calgarians on their way around the city.
The final work is finishing up on Tuscany Station, two and a half kilometes down the track from Crowfoot Station.
Calgary Transit is currently testing communication systems and training drivers for the new section of track.
Michael Thompson, the director of transportation and infrastructure with the City of Calgary, says the new expansion will service about 35,000 residents.
“About 5,000 of those live within a 10 minute walk of the station. It will make commuting for Calgarians in this area very easy.”
Thompson also says that the station will have a familiar feature to many residents.
“The refurbished Eamon’s sign will be going in on the Rocky Ridge side of the station and will be in place for the opening on August 25.”
A grand opening event is scheduled for August 23 and it is open to the public.
