A new poll could be good news for the Wildrose Party as it gets ready for the next provincial election.

The approval poll was conducted by Insights West, a market research company in western Canada, and shows the Wildrose leading at 50 per cent of decided voters, compared to just 21 per cent for the Tories, 16 per cent for the NDP and 11 per cent for the Liberals.

However, 25 per cent of people polled said they still haven't decided who they're voting for.

The Wildrose had a big lead in the polls in the final weeks of the 2012 campaign, but missteps led to a crushing defeat.

The poll also asked about the successors for the PC leadership and 26 per cent of those polled thought former federal cabinet minister Jim Prentice would be the best fit for the job.

Doug Horner was next with 24 per cent support followed by 22 per cent for Ric McIver and 17 per cent for Ken Hughes.

The online survey also indicated that Albertans put health care and accountability among the most important issues.

The poll was conducted online, with a regular panel of respondents, so the methodology and margin of error may not be as reliable as random phone polls.
